Haruka Nanase x Reader - Lucky Charm

"Good luck!" you wished and smiled a genuine smile, hiding your hands behind you back. "Thanks," he answered simply, already wanting to turn around to make his way to the starting blocks.

"Ah Haruka, wait a second!" you called after him so he brought you back into focus.
"I have something for you," you said shyly, already starting to blush.

You pulled your hands out from behind you back, revealing your favourite pair of swimming goggles. You liked to swim occasionally; you even were good at it, though not as good as Haruka was.

His sea blue eyes widened at the sight of your favourites, before he  stated, "But they are your favourite ones." – "Well, you liked them when you borrowed them before and I thought they might bring you luck. So use them if you want to." Still staring at your hands, he slowly said, "Thank you," before reaching for the goggles and taking them with him.

You were pulled into a group hug with the whole Club, everybody laughing and smiling and happy "We won!"s in between. After everything had calmed down a bit, you felt someone looking at you. You caught Haruka’s eye and smiled at him, which he did respond to with lit up eyes and a smile tugging at the corner of his lips.

You and Haruka were walking home side by side, the setting sun making his dark hair seem not so dark and his light eyes even lighter. Suddenly your goggles were shoved in front of your face.

"Oh no, you can keep them. They might bring you luck again," you told him and smiled.

"I don’t need them."He said in a toneless voice, looking right back at you. A little hurt – and confused, because you thought your act of kindness had made him happy- you took the goggles from him with a quiet "Oh... okay." - "I mean I don’t need them if you’re there," Haruka said insistently, stressing the word YOU.

When he saw the confused look on your face he explained, "You’re my lucky charm." You were still not able to process what he just said. You just looked at him while he looked expectantly back.

As soon as it striked you what he really said you hugged him so tightly you both nearly fell to the ground. After a few seconds, you felt Haruka relax into your hug and return it with the same intensity.

"I will be at all your future races then, be sure of it!" you exclaimed with happiness, still not letting go. As a response you felt something soft touch your hair, realizing that Haruka just had kissed the top of your head.

"Thank you," he whispered for the third time this day, only for you to think that you were the one who should thank him for making you the happiest girl in the world.
